Personal Information for Dale Dove

Dale's Personal Information

I became an attorney because I wanted to help people deal with life's challenges.  This remains my passion today - helping people.  I have been in active law practice since 1983.  My practice focuses on these areas of the law:

A primary focus in my life is to encourage people to use their talents and resources to create the culture of Christ where they live, work, study and play.  My personal ministry includes the following:

  • Helping the poor, the homeless and jobless in our community, and encouraging the local church to take on greater responsibility in helping those in need;
  • Encouraging churches to help support and promote foster parenting, adoption, and those in our communities who are presently serving children and families, foster parents and those seeking to give children "forever families" through adoption;
  • Bringing encouraging words to those incarcerated through volunteer work at our local jail/prison, and helping to provide them with eye glasses and inspiring books;
  • Pursuing the creation of a clean water summit to escalate clean water solutions for our world.

Adoptive Parent

My wife Susan and I have one child, our daughter Beth, who we adopted as an infant.  After living through years of struggling with infertility, God blessed us with our precious daughter.  Little did I know that these personal experiences would lead me to change the focus of my law practice from corporate and tax, to helping others build their families through adoption.

Dale's Family

Susan and I both grew up in Rock Hill, SC, and chose to make it our home when we married.  Susan is an elementary teacher for the Rock Hill School District.  Beth is now married and works at Ebenezer Animal Clinic.  Our son-in-law Daniel works as an electrician.  They live in Rock Hill and foster animals in need of homes.

Angel In Adoption Recognition

My work in adoption is very important to me.  God has allowed me to have a passion for adoption and all those involved in this area - birth parents finding themselves facing crisis pregnancies; children needing safe, stable, loving families and homes; those wishing to build their families through adoption; and those working to provide adoption related services.  I have also been blessed with a staff and family who share this passion.  I was truly encouraged in 2008 when I received an Angel in Adoption, US Congressional recognition.  It was such a honor to participate with many from around our Country who have made valuable contributions in this important area of life.  You can read more about the recognition here:  Award Notification Letter and Newspaper Article regarding the award

Audrey Butler, Attorney

Audrey Butler is a 1990 graduate of UGA School of Law. She passed the Georgia Bar in 1990 and went on to serve as Assistant District Attorney for Clark and Oconee Counties in Georgia. She continued her career as a prosecutor as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, Criminal Division.

After years of battling in the courts, Audrey left to become a missionary in Romania. She remained on staff with the mission organization, where she trained as an international hostage negotiator. This training coupled with her years of litigation experience give her a unique perspective and background for her current work as a South Carolina licensed attorney and certified Mediator.

At the Dove Murphy Law Group, Audrey’s focuses her practice area on Probate and Estate Law. She creates wills, powers of attorney and health care powers of attorney. Audrey also files Guardianship and Conservatorship actions in Probate Court to protect people who are incapacitated due to illness or disability.

Another developing area of practice that Audrey plans to expand at the Dove Murphy Law Group is collaborative divorce law, which focuses on providing support to families and avoiding adversarial litigation. Collaborative divorce can include the support of counselors, accountants, and child specialists. Collaborative law is also more private than divorces litigated in South Carolina Family Court.

In addition to her enthusiasm for law, Audrey also enjoys antiquing, letterpress printing, and reading mysteries.

Wendi Smith, Project Coordinator

Wendi Smith is a native of Ohio but loves the weather and southern hospitality of the Carolinas and has no interest in returning to the north. She received her B.A. Degree from Oberlin College and her J.D. Degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law. She married her college sweetheart, Stephen, in 1984. They have three children, which are all grown and living around the U.S. Wendi and her husband were also foster parents for a season. Earlier career experiences include Mediator with the City Prosecutors Office, then working with Juvenile Delinquents in Cleveland’s Juvenile Justice system to being an Adoption Caseworker in Erie, PA., including being a facilitator of FAKT (Foster, Adoption, Kinship Training) and a co-facilitator of Co-Parenting for Divorced Parents.

Wendi and Stephen then relocated to the Carolinas in 2008 for Stephen’s advancement in the banking industry. With this move Wendi became the Director of Match Support at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte. She then became the York County Coordinator with the Case Elias McCarter Guardian ad Litem Program under the State of South Carolina.

Stephen eventually transitioned to providing services for those dealing with homelessness in Charlotte. Wendi has assisted him with this endeavor when possible, and now brings that level of experience to Renew Our Community (ROC) in Rock Hill.

Wendi enjoys being with Dove Law Group because she uses her legal training and her passion for advocacy for children in a way that will benefit families in the most respectful, supportive and professional manner. In addition, it is Wendi’s hope that she will inadvertently gain some of the high energy, wealth of wisdom and knowledge by working with Attorney Dale Dove. Wendi’s hobbies include traveling (mainly to warm places), knitting, reading, supporting the arts and shopping for deals.
